Faye McDonell

Family and Systemic Psychotherapist
Occupational Therapist

Assessment and Consultation
I am able to offer one off or extended assessments to individuals (across the lifespan), families and organisations.
All assessments and consultations come with a comprehensive report including our shared understanding of the difficulties you/your family and/or relative or organisation are experiencing.
Individual Psychotherapy
My training enables me to work with adults and children individually. I offer a flexible and thoughtful approach to individual therapy and work with a range of different presentations.
I have worked in NHS CAMHS services for the past 5 years in both core and neurodevelopment services.
Couple's Psychotherapy
I am able to work with couples wishing to better understand their relational dynamics and how this might be contributing to difficulties in the relationship.
Family and Systemic Psychotherapy
I work with families in their multiple and complex constellations to identify a way forward with the dilemmas you are facing. This may mean meeting in different combinations at different times depending on the context of the work together we contract.
About me
I am now a qualified and registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist . I undertook my qualifying training at the Tavistock and Portman Clinic in London.
I am also a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
I have an interest in therapy and therapeutic support in its multiple forms. I pride myself on being able to meet people where they are at with an appreciation for their stories and lived experienced they bring.

My Approach
Our work together begins with a conversation and we can think together about how therapy might benefit you, your family/supporters, partner or organisation.
I have experience of working in the NHS for 10 years across the lifespan. My training means I can work safely with young people of all ages, from diverse backgrounds with a sensitive and appreciative approach
I bring a particular expertise in a Child and Adolescent mental health (CAMHS) having worked in this area for the past 5 years full time. Prior to that I was working with adults who have complex trauma histories in an inpatient and community setting.
If you are thinking about therapy for yourself, a friend or family member I would love to hear from you and how I might be able to support your journey. I offer face to face sessions in Cambridge/Cambridgeshire as well as virtual sessions from the comfort of your own home. Community based appointments could be considered where there is an identified need/preference.
Getting Help
If you think we might be able to work together I would love to hear from you by email or by phone, it all starts with a conversation. We can book some time together to decide what our work together might look like.
If you decide you would like a different approach I will always seek to signpost you on to other colleagues who might be of interest to you.
